What To do When Everything Seems to Be going Wrong Spiritually!
The Man In The Glass
Don't fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don't act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like. But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God-the free life!-even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action. Anyone who sets himself up as "religious" by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air. Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world.
James 1: 22-27 The Message
Today I want to start a series of spiritually pragmatic lessons that will help you with what to do when things go wrong. I am going to write from the heart because I believe that we live in time that we need to hear the truth. I want to start out by helping you deal with the man/woman in the mirror.
R U JUST GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS?
Have you ever come to a time or place in your life where you felt like you were just going through the motions? Maybe you have experienced this in your spiritual life. Everyone breathing goes through this. Trust me! People in general are great phonies and they try to act like they have it all together for fear of being found out. This is the season that we all go through at one time or another when the magic was gone and you feel like you simply just exist. For example; they go to Church just because it's Sunday whether they have a heart-felt passion about going or not. That's the time when your heart is not in what you are doing. That's why I call it going through the motions. I have been there. I think that it is a normal experience of life. When you find yourself there it is time to deal with the man in the mirror.
THE MAN IN THE MIRROR (GLASS)
That the time that you need to have a heart to heart with the man in the mirror. Listen folks, you are responsible for you. If you are going to make changes in the world start with the man in the mirror, as the late, great Michael Jackson has so passionately sang. Start the man in the mirror! The Word of God is a mirror!
DOING THE WILL OF GOD FROM THE HEART
We are here to do the will of God from the heart, not to be heartless mummies just existing. You are to be a passionate, motivated being fulfilling your Divine purpose on this planet. Your purpose is the will of God for your life.
It starts with understanding and firmly grasping what God's will is for your life. I am amazed at the amount of people in the American Church that have no clue about the plan of God for their individual lives. If you ask the average Church going Christian; what is God will for your life? They will look at you like you came from Mars! Many run around seeking to find their purpose by asking others. You won't find it by asking everyone else. I think that is one of our biggest mistakes as Christians. Nor will you find it reading The Purpose Driven Life or the modern Christian literature of today. That book (The Purpose Driven Life) deals with the general will of God for humanity such as worship, fellowship, evangelism and so forth. American Christians see to think we know God because we have big Churches, Christian TV and huge bookstores. How wrong they are!
What about the geographical will of God? Are you living where He wants you?
What about your gifts, talents and anointing? Are you employing them? Do you even know what they are? Hello! What ministries has God appointed you to support financially? Are you giving to the right ones or just out of personal reiligous convenience. If everything seems to be going wrong. Get alone today and pray and have a heart to heart talk with the man in the glass!
The Man In The Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn't your father or mother or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass.
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum
And think you're a wonderful guy.
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
He's the fellow to please-never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear to the end.
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass.
